We are proud to announce that on Thursday 15th April 2021, Ruth Lee Ltd was named as the winner in the Export category at the Insider Made in Wales Awards – a great achievement in a year that has been difficult for so many due to covid.
Compared to other Awards we have won, which were presented at live ceremonies, we were still thrilled to be named as a winner in a special online event hosted by Insider magazines, where our Managing Director Paul McDonnell took part in an initial panel discussion, covering a range of topics about what can be done to further strengthen Wales’ position in the global market. It was a great event, despite covid preventing a live presentation.
Reflecting on the award, Paul said;
“Like many businesses all across the world, when covid struck and countries went into enforced ‘lock downs’ we were anxious about what that would mean. Despite the business being in great shape – who knew what would happen in the coming weeks and months… but actually, within days, our phones began to ring off the hook with customer desperate to purchase manikins which would allow them to continue with essential mandated training. This was especially true in the healthcare industry, which needed to be able to train new nurses, carers and healthcare assistants to fill in gaps where personnel were currently self-isolating. We consequently adapted our sales and marketing strategies to take advantage of the digital opportunities to speak to customers and this paid dividends. We are very proud that at this difficult time, our manikins were able to provide the perfect solution for effective and realistic training, whilst helping to minimise person-to-person contact.
Internationally, many markets saw a drop off in demand initially, but we must give full credit to our network of outstanding distributors, who saw the opportunity and adapted their working practices to continue selling manikins. Many of our distributors have also enjoyed their best ever year and this down to their hard work and determination to help provide training solutions where they were needed most.
