A great piece of equipment for canine first aid training

One of our favourite, though frequently overlooked manikins is a dog!

This manikin is popular with Fire and Rescue Services and other search and rescue teams – after all, sometimes our four-legged friends get into trouble too! Dog owners frequently get themselves into trouble when trying to rescue their pet and this means that teams have both human and canine casualties to help.

The manikin has also proven to be popular with specialist first aid training organisations such as Active First Aid Training, who deliver dedicated Canine First Aid programmes.

Targeted specifically at people who spend time caring for dogs, the practical course looks at the various challenges of performing first aid on a dog. Lasting 6 hours, the course concentrates on common injuries, illnesses and conditions.

Katherine Wills from Active First Aid Training said,

“I love my Canine Manikin! I use it on my Canine First Aid courses to show candidates how challenging it is to handle and transport injured or ill dogs.”
