Local Commitments
Supporting Our Community
Since 2017, Ruth Lee Ltd has been committed to giving back to the communities around us through our Social Commitment Fund, donating a portion of our profits to support local projects, groups and good causes.
As a proudly Welsh business, we believe in supporting the people and communities that have supported us over the years. While our commitment began in Corwen, our aim is now to support good causes throughout the wider local community.
We Want to Hear From YOU!
Do you know of a local project, group or good cause that could benefit from some extra support? We’d love to hear your ideas.
We’re particularly interested in supporting projects and initiatives focused on:
Health & Sport
Education
Saving Lives
If you know of a project doing great things in the community, or have an idea for how we could help, please get in touch. We’re always keen to hear about opportunities where our Social Commitment Fund could make a real difference. Call 01490 413 282 or email joanne@ruthlee.co.uk
Have a look below to see some of the projects, groups and good causes we’ve supported so far, and the different ways we’ve been able to give back to our community.
Defibrillator - Heart start training
We have now purchased several defibrilators for the local community, locations include outside Evans Butchers in Corwen Town Centre, at the Sports Pavillion, at Clawdd Poncen and the outside the Village Hall in Glyndyfrdwy.
In addition to supplying the equipment, we worked with Welsh Hearts to deliver free heart-start and CPR training to local people.

Parent/carer Paediatric First Aid
We worked with Corwen Leisure to supply a first aid bundle to the Leisure Centre, to be used to deliver a range of courses including Baby CPR. The first course was held in December 2018 and was well attended by parents and grandparents.

Water Safety Workshops
The River is a big attraction to both tourists and local people. It is particularly popular with teenagers in the summer months, who swim in the cool, clean waters.
But it’s easy to get into trouble in open water, especially cold river water. Cold Water Shock can strike quickly and so we are looking to create a series of workshops for local people – focused on water safety, they will provide useful information on what to do if you get into trouble in open water, and some life-saving skills.
We hope to work with Corwen Leisure to facilitate this programme to local people.

Sponsored calendar in aid of McMillan
We were approached by the local community to sponsor a 2018 calendar being created to support McMillan Cancer. Sadly, many of us are touched by cancer in our lifetime, either directly, or through a friend or family member suffering the disease. Local residents of Corwen, all of whom had been affected by cancer, had come together to pose for photograhs for a lovely calendar and our sponsorship helped towards the cost of printing this. We were pleased to offer the total of £700 towards this project.

Blue Sky / Awyr Las Donation
IN 2017 we made a donation of £1,000 to The North Wales NHS charity, Blue Sky (Awyr Las), which provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS is able to fund.
When making the donation, we specified cancer services as the intended recipient of the funds.

Supporting local Education
Whilst the initial aim of our social commitment progamme was saving lives, over the past few years we have also supported a large number of local educational projects. From donating gazebos for outside classrooms, ro buying books for a school vending machine.
