Volunteer Heroes

Supporting the volunteers who save lives

At Ruth Lee, we’re proud to work with professionals who save lives – but we also know that many rescue teams around the world rely on dedicated volunteers to carry out their vital work.

Volunteer Heroes is Ruth Lee’s support fund for volunteer rescue teams. Through the fund, teams can apply for the support that would make the biggest difference to their organisation, whether that’s rescue training manikins, equipment, financial funding or something else that will help them continue training, responding and saving lives.

When a round of funding opens, eligible volunteer teams can submit an application telling us about the work they do, the challenges they face and what support they need. We then review the applications and select the teams we can support.

Since launching the project, we’ve been proud to help volunteer teams continue their incredible work – and we’re looking forward to supporting even more Volunteer Heroes in the future.

We open the fund at different points throughout the year, so scroll down to find out whether the current round of funding is open and how your team can apply.

VOLUNTEER HEROES FUND 2026 NOW OPEN!

We’re delighted to announce that the Volunteer Heroes Fund is back for 2026, giving volunteer rescue teams around the world the opportunity to apply for support.

This year, there’s no fixed list of prizes. Tell us what your team needs and why it would make a difference. Whether you’re looking for new Ruth Lee manikins to support your training, specific equipment for your training or rescue operations, or even a monetary donation to help fund an important project, we want to hear from you.

There’s no catch and no set package to choose from. Simply tell us about your team, the incredible work you do and what support would help you continue it. We’ll review every application and do our best to support as many teams as possible through the fund.

WHO CAN APPLY?

The 2026 Volunteer Heroes Fund is open to volunteer rescue teams anywhere in the world. Whether your team is based here in the UK or internationally, we want to hear from the volunteers making a difference in their communities.

HOW TO APPLY

Simply fill in the application form below and tell us more about your team, the work you do, what you need and why this support would be important to you.

Applications now open! Closes on 1 December 2026.

Once applications have closed, our team will review all submissions and select the teams we’re able to support. Successful applicants – our 2026 Volunteer Heroes – will be notified towards the end of December.

Think your team could benefit from support? Complete the application form below and tell us how the Volunteer Heroes Fund could help you continue your vital work.
