In each case specialist skills and equipment are required, and FRS rescuers are increasing their training in this area, using Ruth Lee bariatric manikins, which weigh in from 180Kg to 260 Kg (40 stone)
Staff at hospitals, care homes, prisons and other institutions also face this challenge on a regular basis. Having the right training to deal with obese casualties is really important, to ensure full compliance with health and saftey guidelines, and of course ensuring that there is no injury caused to the person concerned.
